Soundgarden - King Animal

Design for commemorative tour poster for Soundgarden.  Theme was the title of their newest album, King Animal.  Wanted to create something that felt occult and weird, like a dried up idol to a forgotten autumnal deity.  If you flip it, it has another face:

This is what happens when I work on a design solely in the hours of 1-4am...it has a feverish creepiness that just seems to whisper "Michelle, go to bed".

    

Warped Tour Poster

Saw this opportunity and couldn't help myself...another contest, this time to design the poster theme for Warped Tour 2013.  Always my favorite festival of the summer, Warped Tour holds a special place in my heart.  It's another long shot submission, but it would pretty much be the "best day ever" if I win...I've always kind of had this stupid dream of getting my art on a backdrop or stage scrim someday...and I couldn't think of a better venue.

Happy Halloween! Creepy WIP post for the holiday!  Halloween is one of my favorite holidays of the year, good time to confront those inner demons wallowing in the darker mires of my mind...

Horse Walk

Gonna maybe start posting some animations here too! Study of a horse walking with a fun rig I found on Animation Buffet.  I love messing with new rigs, probably its because I never really got over playing with the piles of action figures I crafted epic dramas with as a kid.  Now I still get to play, but I can tell everyone I'm working.  Model By Hung Vodinh and rig by Joel Anderson.

More Poster Madness! The Offspring

I can't help it, I love doing band posters/flyers.  I can't play an instrument worth a damn myself, so I think I compensate with pretty pictures!  This is a fun retro design I put together for a poster contest for The Offspring's new album.  I love Offspring, and I love anything punk rock, so I turned my speakers up LOUD and rocked my way through another design!

Naberius

The Ugly King! Naberius, also called Cerberus.  This is actually my submission for a contest to design a poster for the metal band, "The Devil Wears Prada", which is why the crown has the band logo.  I got really into the painting though, so I wanted to share it alone without the text.  I loved the way the colors came out.  The weakest part is the war hammer, I struggled with that...probably a sign I need to stop being so lazy about designing weapons and armor and work more on my perspective drawing!
